A Typical Day in the Life of an SEO Specialist
Real SEO takes much more than keywords. A typical day will probably include some combination of the following SEO tasks, so my routine is like this:
Queue up some quality Twitter, Linkedin, and social media posts to keep my account fresh.
Check my dashboard (a Google Doc that grabs Webmaster Tools reports) for any problems.
Do an opportunity gap analysis for a scheduled client.
Run a crawl of a client site and make recommendations for better site visibility.
Write 4 blogs / articles following ideas generated while running. Depending on the character's requirements, it can take up to 3 hours for 3000 words to post.
Log into affiliate accounts and check ranking data, traffic, conversion rates. Set up a new A:B test following ideas generated while running.
Link building, we are looking for opportunities to get quality domain links to your website.
You can work as an SEO specialist in one of two ways: either for an employer or for clients. Although the daily tasks are the same in either role, there are some differences, especially with emails and meetings. Any job can be stressful based on the type of performance required by your company.
Many SEO strategists fail because they are chasing and obsessing about numbers. All they care about is “more content”, “more backlink” and “faster conversion rate”. They try to ignore building trust and connection with their audience.
