How to stand out from millions doing the same work? This is the most common question that pops into people's minds at least once. Actually, each person will have a different set of Unique Selling Propositions, that exactly makes you unique and differentiates you from the crowd.

Yes! It is that feature they possess that others don't. The feature that makes them unique from others and gets imprinted in people's heads, through which they are known and appreciated.


Understanding the Concept of Unique Selling Proposition (USP)

In fact, a person's USP can be anything that gets noticed by others without any effort from the person. It can be anything - the attitude, the walk, the looks, the voice, the style- anything that can be attributed to a person’s abilities. It communicates what value you bring and why they should hire you or work with you.

These days, jobs are more difficult than ever, so having a strong personal brand is important for your chances of reaching your goals. Furthermore, your USP also helps you target the right audience and differentiate yourself .

It's important to understand what a Unique Selling Proposition (USP) is if you want to build your personal brand well. Let's keep this simple and straightforward. Some of you may think your USP is a primary benefit statement. However, USP can be a reason why someone would find it interesting and choose what you offer.


Step-by-step on how to identify your USP


Follow my super duper easy steps:

  1. Self-observation: This is the step that needs a realistic view to reflect everything about yourself : skills, strengths, attitudes, styles,... Following all your unique trait, achievements and challenges expertise you have overcome.

  2. Demand research: It is important to learn about the desires and requirements of the target market. What are the qualities that can help us achieve goals? Research people’s pain point and intentions to align your USP to your targeted audiences. 

  3. Social listening: Have conversation with your trusted friends, reliable manager , mentors or industry professionals. Checking your USP, asking for their honest feedback and making modifications as necessary. 

  4. SWOT analysis: Using all the above information to identify your unique attributes and keep improving. This analysis helps us evaluate 4 different aspects: Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. 




By following these steps, you can have an overview about your Unique Selling Proposition. Your statement should be short and straight to the point that tells people what makes you different.
